A MISSION SPOTLIGHT CHURCH in 2006 and 2007

The North Lake United Methodist Church supports many missions locally and around the world. Through these missions we are able to make a positive difference in the lives of many people, whether their needs are material or spiritual.

Mission support is coordinated and driven by the Membership Care & Outreach Committe and the United Methodist Women at North Lake UMC.
 

In addition to paying 100% of our apportionments, our church is among a small, select group who support missions in seven categories.  Below is a list of a few of the many projects we support. 


C.R.O.P.

U.M.C.O.R.
UMCOR logo The United Methodist Committee On Relief is the humanitarian relief and development agency of the United Methodist Church, a worldwide denomination. Compelled by Christ, UMCOR responds to natural or human made disasters—those interruptions of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own. Lingap Children's Foundation
Lingap Center Logo Founded by John Drake, this organization puts 100% of the money donated towards helping children in the Phillipines that are in the absolute most desparate situations. We have had John at our church to give presentations, and anyone who has heard him talk knows that he is absolutely dedicated to helping these children. He has moved mountains and it is our priviledge to be able to help the efforts of this organization. More information at their website.



Ann Arbor District Liberia Partnership
It is the function of the Ann Arbor Liberia Partnership Taskforce to interface directly with the three Liberian Districts with whom we have been partnered and to facilitate and nurture partnerships between Ann Arbor District churches and local churches in our Liberian Partner Districts. Faith in Action
FIA Logo Faith In Action is a community funded, faith based assistance and resource center for those who need a helping hand in the Chelsea and Dexter school districts. Our goal is to make the quality of living better for the needy in our community by being the safety net that provides the services they need and helps them access other available services. Grace Children's Hospital
Intl Child Care Logo Grace Children´s Hospital, founded in 1967, is the flagship ministry of International Child Care. Recognized as Haiti´s leading medical facility dedicated to the treatment of children with tuberculosis (TB) Grace Children´s Hospital has staff comprised of all Haitian nationals. MCHS logo To meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children in our care, develop personal, family and community relationships which will contribute to healthy opportunities for the children to reach their fullest potential, and to advocate on behalf of all children.

Heifer International
Heifer Int'l Logo Heifer International seeks to end hunger by promoting self-sufficiency. They do not just give food to the hungry, they give livestock, and they provide education on how to best utilize the animals so that the people can become self sufficient. More information at their website.

United Methodist Retirement Center
UMRC logo United Methodist Retirement Communities (UMRC) was founded in 1906 by Methodist church leaders and laymen who saw the need for an alternative means of caring for “the lonely aged.” Together they sought an innovative, non-profit, and faith-based way of filling that need.
